Thanos is a leading figure in body music and tap dance inGreece, with a vibrant teaching and performing presence across the globe. Mentored by internationally acclaimed artists such as Heather Cornell, Max Pollak, and Keith Terry, his work explores the seamless integration of movement and sound within a single medium, dissolving the boundaries between the two in both solo and ensemble contexts. Deeply rooted in a lifelong passion for improvisation, Thanos has intertwined his artistic voice with education, pioneering the innovative approach he calls Impromptu Teaching.

From 2007 to 2015, he produced Tapmotif, an immersive 10-day improvisational retreat for musicians and tap dancers on the Greek island of Lefkada. In addition to curating the artistic program alongside Heather Cornell and Max Pollak, Thanos taught, performed, and played a key role in fostering a strong international community.

In 2009, he partnered with percussionist Simone Mongelli to create Kantu Korpu, Greece’s first body music ensemble. The group brought together diverse artists, including contemporary flamenco dancer and choreographer Yiota Peklari and traditional Greek singer Maria Alatsatianou, and performed at the International Body Music Festivals from 2011 to 2014.

Thanos later joined the Spanish dance and music group Cambuyon, making his Broadway debut with them at the New Victory Theater in 2015. He has also toured internationally with Body Music: See Music, Hear Dance, directed by Keith Terry and Jep Melendez, showcasing his artistry alongside an outstanding ensemble of performers.

In Athens, Thanos is a prominent figure in the jazz & funk scene, collaborating with many important Greek artists since the early days of his career. He has been the lead singer and dancer of Funkollectiv and today performs among others with the ImproJazz group. Beyond the jazz scene, he has worked on numerous theater and dance productions as a movement and rhythm collaborator, blending his expertise in music and dance to elevate performances.

Thanos regularly teaches tap and body music at PLAYGROUND for the Arts, a creative space he co-founded with Yiota Peklari and Petros Kourtis. Recently, PLAYGROUND assumed leadership of the International Body Music Festival from Crosspulse. Thanos has also been a faculty member at the Orff Institute in Athens for 15 years and is collaborating every year with the jazz improvisation workshop “Improjazzworkshop”. He frequently travels internationally to teach and perform, sharing his knowledge and passion in countries like the USA, Canada, Spain, France, Switzerland, the UK, Finland and more.
